Washington and Stanford Don’t Pick UC, Proving Exactly Nothing

Only minutes ago, Taft High School football players Adolphus Washington and Dwayne Stanford held the oh-so glitzy and glamorous, camera/reporter-filled press conference to announce their college decisions. In that sense, I guess it was fitting that Washington chose Ohio State and Stanford Oregon. But don’t fool yourself, the duo didn’t pick their respective schools over Cincinnati, they picked them over about 27 schools each. Nevermind that UC was among their top three as I’ve been saying for months now that they have been wasting Coach Jones and his staff’s time by taking official visits to take a look at the Bearcats’ facilities.

So don’t feel down about their decisions. UC isn’t restricted to recruiting locally like they used to. ‘Cincinnati Bearcats’ is now a national brand- You can thank the 2 BCS bowls and the top-10 ranking for that. So the fact that Washington and Stanford didn’t pick UC among 20+ schools isn’t a big deal considering the kind of in-roads this coaching staff has made in the recruiting hotbeds of Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Now that the drama queens have had their time in the spotlight, can we all just move on with our lives?
