Matt at Down the Drive has this on his site where you can read the entire thing. If the fact that they aren’t listed on the roster indicates anything, it appears they are probably not on the team. It’s anyone’s guess as to the reason but I suspect for Weatherford that his redshirt and the fact Cincinnati is bringing Bennie Coney and Trenton Norvell probably irked him. He needed to majorly bulk up and probably wouldn’t have climbed very high on the depth chart to compete with Legaux, Coney, Coyne, or whoever is in line to lead the Bearcats in the coming years. Washington injured his leg in the offseason but still managed to play some in out-of-conference play. He was expected to move into the slot next season so it’s odd that he decided to leave school so early. Regardless of the reasons, both Shaq and Stephen will be missed.
Going forward, this clears up two spots on the 85 man roster if the 2012 class stays in-tact. There are still 5 scholarships remaining. It will be interesting to see if Jeremy Graves sticks with the Bearcats since he and Shaq Washington were close friends.
