I’ll get this out of the way first. I didn’t watch the game. It was on ESPN 3 and I use a pirated website to watch those games that aren’t shown on national TV. It just so happens they didn’t show UC-Rutgers so I was forced to gamecast it. And thank heavens I wasn’t forced to physically watch it because, according to my Twitter feed, it was an absolute mess. Here’s some stats of note:

– Cincinnati shot 35.7% from the field. While Gates, Dixon, and Kilpatrick all shot in double figures no one else had more than 7. Only FIVE Bearcats tallied a point.

– Killa, Cash, and Jaquon made 7 of their 27 attempts. That’s 20.5% for you mathematicians. That sucks.

– UC had 14 turnovers and the guards have been giving the ball away more in the recent games than ever before.

– Rutgers doesn’t guard the boards particularly well but outrebounded the Cats 32 – 31.

– Guards have been killing Cincinnati this season and the Scarlet Knights’ guards had 37 of their 61 points.

Not much more to say. The Bearcats got manhandled and did themselves no favors by living in brick-city and giving Rutgers extra possessions by not rebounding and giving the ball away on turnovers. This is an extremely sloppy team right now and I expect Mick to tear the team a new one tonight. Expect a much more focused Bearcat team next Saturday against DePaul. There’s still a lot of basketball to play but for this team to make the NCAA Tourney they need to wake up and get a sense of urgency sooner rather than later.
