Today was an especially exciting National Signing Day because of the amount of talent and depth in the most recent 2012 recruiting class. There were hits (Ti’on Green) and misses (Dennis Norfleet, Eric Kinsey) but top-to-bottom this is the best group of prospects to ever sign with UC. But there is still one more mystery still unsolved and it involves Moeller wide receiver Monty Madaris. Just a few days ago, Madaris supposedly decided he was going to sign with Michigan State over Cincinnati. But mixed reports coming out of NSD have ultimately come to a single fact that he has not yet signed with the Spartans. According to Mike Dyer, who is all over recruiting in the 513, Madaris is still “undecided” per Moeller head coach John Rodenberg.

So what does this mean? Has Monty decided to give Cincinnati a second chance? He did recently visit UC during the Bearcats’ whiteout game against Syracuse in which the student section was chant his name, coaxing him to sign with Cincinnati. Plus it seems strange he delayed signing his Letter of Intent merely days after proclaiming his desire to play for Sparty. On top of that, there are rumors that Rodenberg has a history of guiding his players AWAY from UC so maybe the pressure of NSD caused Madaris to really sit down and think about his options. Regardless of the reason, Madaris has not yet signed with Michigan State and it’s unclear just what school he will be attending.
