Bearcat of the Week: Sean Kilpatrick

This is quickly becoming the ‘Sean Kilpatrick of the Week’ award. The three-time winner was critical in the Bearcats’ last two victories over DePaul and St. John’s that has righted the ship on UC’s season. Killa notched the most minutes, points, and assists of any Bearcat in those two wins. He was hampered by a hip injury in the middle of January causing his production to drop and as a result Cincinnati lost three-straight. It just goes to show you how important the sophomore is to this team. Kilpatrick is clearly not feeling any lingering effects of the injury with the fact that his three-point shot has returned and he’s attacking the basket with authority. In a 2 minute stretch against the Johnnies, Kilpatrick took over the game when St. John’s cut Cincinnati’s lead to 8. You can read a full play-by-play here but in essence Kilpatrick scored 10 points in those two minutes effectively knocking the Johnnies out of the game. The Bearcats can’t expect Killa to go on runs like these every game but his consistent 10-15 pt games will be critical for UC to get to the NCAA Tournament again.
