It seems Cincinnati isn’t feeling any negative aftereffects of Kerry Coombs leaving the school for Ohio State. Some had thought that his departure would close some doors UC had opened at local high school programs. But Mark Elder has picked up where Coombs left off and kept the relationships going strong. One of those programs is Ohio powerhouse Colerain, who have again sent a player to Clifton. This time

it’s offensive lineman Dylan Wiesman

. The big bulldozer garnered offers from such BCS programs as Tennessee, West Virginia, and Boston College among others. Wiesman is the third offensive lineman to commit to Cincinnati and will probably be the last.

Overview

It seems like Wiesman is generally the largest player to step onto the football field. He just takes up so much space that running backs easily pick up 4-5 yds rushing behind him. He’s clearly the best offensive lineman on the Cardinals’ team so, no surprise, he plays left tackle but also works the right side on power run plays. He displays solid technique and most importantly flexibility and speed. That will translate well to the zone-blocking plays he will see at Cincinnati.

Outlook

Wiesman projects to an offensive guard at Cincinnati. That’s just perfect since the Bearcats needed to add interior linemen to the 2013 class. Funny how that happens. Wiesman is an interesting prospect who will redshirt his freshman year like most OL their first seasons. He will have solid time to add valuable muscle and learn the zone-blocking schemes.
