Moving On Up; Bearcats Ranked in Both Major Polls

Cincinnati stomped their intrastate ‘rivals’ the Miami Redhawks 52-14 yesterday night. As such they’ve found themselves in the Top 25 in both the AP and Coaches Poll. UC did come in at #23 in last week’s Coaches Poll but were snubbed by the AP, starting the week barely on the outside looking in at #26. I was actually shocked to see so many teams ahead of our undefeated Bearcats like UCLA and Washington. But that’s in the past now as Cincinnati is finally ranked in both polls, rising in the Coaches to #20 and jumping Northwestern, UCLA, and Washington, all of whom lost, to move to #21 in the AP.

Like I mentioned there is a possibility UC will have that prestigious crooked number next to their name in the clash with Louisville on October 26th. Their chances are pretty strong, I’d say, as they should put a good ol’ fashion ass whooping on the FCS Fordham Rams next Saturday then travel to Toledo the following weekend. Now, their matchup with the Rockets has ‘trap game’ what with Toledo being a top-tier MAC program and the Bearcats in danger of looking past them to the Cardinals. But I trust Butch Jones and co. to have this team prepared and focused to take each game one at a time, no matter how annoyingly cliche that sounds.
