Bearcat of the Week: Munchie Legaux

facebooktwitterreddit

Munchie Legaux has had an up and down season. To the rational fan out there this would be understandable for a kid just a few games removed from playing wide receiver. But he takes a lot of heat from critics who were spoiled rotten by outstanding UC quarterbacks of late like Ben Mauk, Tony Pike, and Zach Collaros. Legaux is a work in progress and Bearcat fans aren’t used to that. They are used to the pre-packaged field generals who can light up the scoreboard game in and game out. Munchie isn’t there quite yet and because of that he draws a lot of ire from some fans.

But #4 did a nice job silencing most of them on Saturday night. Legaux has always commanded the respect of his teammates and worked extremely hard to better his craft. Finally he put together the most complete game of his career against the Fordham Rams. The Cincinnati quarterback completed 62.5% of his passes for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He also had another one on the ground. The touchdown pass to Danny Milligan was dropped on a dime. He is much maligned for his accuracy but that pass was just beautiful. Hopefully we see more performances like this from Munchie in the future.
