Brendon Kay Starting Against Temple

It seems Butch Jones is a logical man afterall. I never lost faith him.

Jones announced this morning that he will in fact start his senior quarterback Brendon Kay over Munchie Legaux. No matter how much Cincinnati’s head coach backed Legaux through constant criticism, he made the difficult decision last Saturday to bench him. Ultimately it worked out for the Bearcats as Kay powered UC to 14 unanswered points in a 35 – 24 victory over Syracuse.

As I mentioned earlier this week it only made sense to give Kay the opportunity to show what he can do throughout a full game after what he showed us in just over a quarter of play against the Orange. The senior will be challenged by coaches adjusting throughout the game and he will have to tailor his play accordingly. That will be his biggest hurdle today but if he can show he can adapt to the changes and still advance the offense downfield there’s no doubt in my mind that Kay should be the starter for the remainder of the season.
