I’m a little late on this but better late than never, right? ASA College runningback Hosey Williams has decided to cast his lot with the Cincinnati Bearcats. Assistant coach of the Avengers Joe Fenelon is indicating the commitment and Bearcat Lair, as ushe, confirmed it Sunday night. Williams hails from Miami, FL and Southwest Miami Senior High School to be exact but opted to go the JUCO route for his first two years in college. As a freshman he was used sparingly, sitting behind a slew of runningbacks on the Avengers’ roster. But as a sophomore he broke out on a 1,269 rushing yard, 14 touchdown campaign en route to 1st Team All-American honors. Now he’s decided to bring that lofty resume to Clifton.

Overview
No embedded highlight video this time around but here’s a link to his sophomore reel.
Williams is clearly an explosive back and with such a low center of gravity he keeps his balance well. Quite frankly he doesn’t go down easy. He also has nice starting-and-stopping abilities with very impressive lateral quickness to evade tacklers. Then if he breaks it to the outside he uses his topline speed to burn defenders down the sidelines. Clearly this is his main weapon defenses have to take into account. Williams looks like he benefits from what seems to be a talented offensive line and a system conducive to his strengths. But he also displays the vision to see the openings in the line and the cutback lanes as well as the speed to burst through them.
Outlook
With such a slew of experience at runningback on the Cincinnati Bearcats’ roster in 2013 I’m not quite sure where Hosey Williams fits in. He looks like a larger version of Ralph David Abernathy IV and at UC could be used as a scatback catching balls out of the backfield or just providing a different wrinkle to the offense in general. But he’s a powerfully built player who could handle the rigors of being an every-down back. In his first year in Clifton he would have to compete with Tion Green, Deionte Buckley, Jameel Poteat, and fellow JUCO commit Rodriguez Moore for reps. We’ll see how it works outs for Williams but he might have to take a redshirt in 2013 depending upon how Cincinnati’s new coaching staff wants to use him.
