Cincinnati a Potential Landing Spot for Former Star QB Prospect Gunner Kiel?

Former 5-Star high school quarterback recruit and current notable headcase Gunner Kiel is transferring from Notre Dame and according to Yard Barker Cincinnati has made his short list of potential destinations:

"According to several sources, Tennessee, Cincinnati and Ball State will likely be in the mix for Kiel now that he is leaving Notre Dame. Indiana will likely put in some effort to land him, but bridges were definitely burned when Kiel de-committed from the Hoosiers and it’s probably not a good fit at this point."

Obviously the talent is there but this rumor just sends up all kinds of red flags. As I mentioned, Kiel has headcase written all over him and it began with his recruitment over a year ago. After first committing to in-state Indiana University, Kiel up and switched to LSU a month before national signing day. He was expected to enroll early and head to Baton Rouge shortly after but when he didn’t show up questions started to surface. It turns out Kiel was planning to enroll at Notre Dame, which he did and wound up signing with the Irish on national signing day.

Now he’s looking to transfer, making a commitment his fourth school in a year. That’s just doesn’t sit right with me. While he’s got the talent of a potential NFL draft pick someday, Kiel brings a lot of baggage with him and might not be worth the trouble. If Tommy Tuberville brings him in I would hope he makes it abundantly clear to Kiel that he will not have a free ride here. He will have to challenge for starting time just like everyone else. If he comes here and all parties are aware of their responsibilities, Kiel could be an extremely special player in a long line of excellent Bearcats quarterbacks.
