Cincinnati Bearcats 2013 NFL Undrafted Free Agents

UC was a little light on the draftees this year. Travis Kelce was the only Bearcat selected in the NFL Draft. He went in the 3rd round to the Kansas City Chiefs. But after that it was a pretty quiet weekend from the boys in Clifton. Fortunately the Bearcats in list at the end of this post were recognized for their skills and offered the opportunity to show them off in a pro camp.

The noticeable Cincinnati player absent is defensive end Walter Stewart. While it was probably a long shot that he would be drafted after the discovery of the obstruction in his spine, I would have bet cash money that he would have at the very least been signed as an undrafted free agent. Well that’s a bet I would have lost. As of now Walt hasn’t received enough interest from a NFL team to garner a contract. Despite his gleaming resume as a Bearcat, it appears the risk of potential injury from that abnormality is too high for the pros to pull the trigger on him. And that is truly tragic.

Hopefully things change over the next few days but for now there are four Bearcats who have signed contracts as undrafted free agents:

RB George Winn: Houston Texans

WR Kenbrell Thompkins: New England Patriots

LB Maalik Bomar: Jacksonville Jaguars

DE Dan Giordano: Arizona Cardinals
