Bearcats News
A great little piece of news from Tim Adams on Walter Stewart who is evaluating his options after being passed over by NFL teams this past weekend. It’s truly tragic just how fall the UC defensive end fell after the abnormality in his spine was discovered. A former round 1 or 2 draft pick wound up not even being offered a contract as an undrafted free agent. Now, per the article, he’s looking hard at the CFL. At this point, though, I think Walt should just look even harder at beginning his coaching career.
Analyzing the Fit of the NFL Bearcats
Paul Dehner takes a look at where the 5 former UC players might fit on their future NFL teams. I was most intrigued by the wide receiver situation in New England and how the Patriots are basically one step short of holding open tryouts at the position. As such, Kenbrell Thompkins who signed a contract as a UDFA with them should have a strong shot at making the depth chart. He’s a solid receiver but his numbers were hampered by inconsistent quarterback play in his senior year. With Tom Brady slinging it to him, Thompkins has a chance to shine.
