Bearcats Going Head-To-Toe White Uniforms Against Purdue?
By Chris Bains
Based on some revealing Instagram pictures by Andrew Gantz and Deionte Buckley, early indications are that this might be the case. Gantz provides a better view of the helmet than Buckley.
Cincinnati hasn’t been afraid to pair the white top with the white pants in the past, especially for whiteout games. I’ve never had much of a problem with it especially after feeling the energy of Nippert Stadium when UC did this against Fresno State in 2009. Honestly it felt like Penn State lite. And despite the Bearcats rocking their school colors red and black most of the time (and mah-velously, I might add), I’ve always thought the whiteout was a great way to switch things up. But then UC brought out the white helmets in the Sugar Bowl against the Florida Gators. The game was neither a whiteout nor did it do Cincinnati justice going head-to-toe white on national TV. I can’t really pinpoint why seeing UC in all-white bothered me but it just felt weird watching them play without their signature black helmets.
Whatever. I’m not going to make too much of a fuss about it. At the end of the day it’s not that big of a deal and a new uni combo should look pretty cool during the first game on Nippert’s new turf. We’ll just have to wait and see if the all-white uniforms come to fruition!
