Tommy G, the man behind the mic, dropped the info this morning that UC has officially hashed out a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals to play their 2014 season downtown at Paul Brown Stadium.
As I’ve mentioned, this isn’t an ideal situation for the Bearcats but a necessary evil to getting the Nippert Stadium renovations finished by the start of the 2015 season. If UC somehow tried to work around the construction, it might have taken many more months or up to another year to complete. Heck, it probably wasn’t even feasible from a safety standpoint. Thankfully, though, Cincinnati has Paul Brown Stadium at its disposal for the very purpose of keeping the renovation right on schedule. Hopefully Mike Brown in his infinite heartlessness didn’t gouge UC this time around like he has in the past but given the Bearcats’ SOL situation, I wouldn’t doubt he tried to eek out every penny from the local university.
Currently Cincinnati is scheduled to host FCS Stony Brook, Toledo, and Miami (OH) in the 2014 season with the AAC slate yet to be determined. All of those home games are set to be played at Paul Brown Stadium.
