The Bearcats have had a whale of a time preventing fans, and particularly UC students, from leaving football games early. As has been said, the issue isn’t that they don’t show up at Nippert Stadium. The issue is that the UC students have been bolting for the gates at halftime. Maybe they assume the game is well in hand and/or they’re just bored. I haven’t a clue but it’s pretty apparent that something is wrong.

To help rectify that problem, Cincinnati has announced that they will be giving away replica Keg of Nails trophies to the first 5,000 fans at Nippert on Thursday night. Just take a look at these bad boys. I sure as heck want one.

The only caveat is that those 5,000 fans will not be given the trophies outright when they arrive. Instead, they will be given wristbands which are redeemable for the trophies after the 4th quarter. What a brilliant move! Not only does UC ensure that there will be a raucous crowd after halftime in the extremely important game against Louisville, but they are rewarding them with some pretty cool prizes. I’m sure those who stick around and get one of these trophies will be happy that they did if a Cincinnati victory over those dastardly Cardinals isn’t enough.
