Oh soooo close!

On the Monday after Cincinnati took down the 18th ranked Memphis Tigers in impressive fashion on the road, I enthusiastically assumed the Bearcats were a shoe in for a top-25 ranking. But, we were left wanting, as the AP voters kept UC just on the outside looking in at 26th. The Bearcats received 103 votes in said poll, just 9 behind Kansas State and 21 ahead of Creighton.

While getting that crooked number is a bit disappointing, these polls don’t really matter a whole lot right now except slightly from a recruiting standpoint. Plus the fact that Cincinnati climbed from basically no where to a hair from being ranked is mighty impressive. UC literally climbed from having zero votes in the AP Poll to garnering 103 votes and a no. 26 ranking. Additionally, this is just one of two polls to be released today. Perhaps the Bearcats could squeak in with the coaches.
