BEARCATS NEWS

Bearcat Commit Antonio Howard Picks Up Penn State Offer

"Given all those factors the odds of Tubs keeping Howard in the fold in the light of this offer seems relatively high. But it seems unlikely that Penn State will be the only big name to throw their hat into the ring with Howard between now and signing day. The Bearcats are going to have to fight to keep Howard in the fold."

More Lofty Bowl Projections for UC

"Brett McMurphy and Mark Schlabach were the two men who predicted things. McMurphy had UC going to the Miami Beach Bowl to face BYU. This is one of the new bowl games that the AAC is a part of and that BYU is tied to this season. McMurphy had Marshall as the outsider playing in one of the big boy bowl games."

Jermaine Sanders will be Cincinnati’s next JaQuon Parker

"Sanders has the strength to play power forward defensively, as did Parker, and can create mismatches on offense with his ability to extend the defense. The New York native made 35 three-point shots (hitting 37.6 of them) and could regularly pose mismatch problems against teams with traditional “4-men” because of the spacing he creates offensively."

Woodall Advances in the 100m and 400m

"Woodall, who is a sophomore from Coatesville, Pa., had the challenging feat of competing in the 100m and 400m within the same hour. The sprinter first competed in the 100m at 7:25 p.m. and clocked a time of 11.74, which was third in her heat and automatically qualified her for the finals. She now runs Friday at 6:45 p.m. and looks to finish in the top 12 to advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon."

Annual Cronin’s Bearcats Classic Set for August 4

"The sixth annual Coach Mick Cronin’s Bearcats Classic benefitting the University of Cincinnati men’s basketball program is scheduled for August 4 at Traditions Golf Club in Hebron, Kentucky. Registration starts at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start beginning at noon."

Men’s Soccer Hosts Free Clinic

"Youth players had the chance to train and practice with the UC coaches and players. The clinic provided a preview for the instruction provided at the Cincinnati Soccer Academy’s day camps, which will be held June 9-13 and July 7-11 at the University. For more information on the Cincinnati Soccer Academy or to register for camps, visit CincinnatiSoccerAcademy.com."

"All adult males (21 and older) are invited to experience what it takes to be a Division I college football player. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the ultimate Bearcats Fan. Capacity will be limited to the first 35 people who register so make sure you sign-up today."

Tuberville says Auburn obviously should claim USC’s vacated 2004 title

"In 2011 the BCS stripped USC of its national title after the NCAA determined that star running back Reggie Bush had received illegal benefits. Thus, the BCS doesn’t officially recognize a national champion in 2004."

Starving for competition? Try this entree, Alabama

"Now I don’t know the ins and outs of scheduling for UCF, but I can almost guarantee if UCF had the choice between a home-and-home series with Alabama and any other FBS school, it would choose Alabama."

NATI NEWS

The Game They Show On Endless Loop In Hell

"It wasn’t even boredom.  Boredom can be cured.  This was just a deep malaise.  I felt like one of those massively obese people whose bodies start becoming one with their beds and who can’t summon the energy to even grab the remote.  The Reds and Diamondbacks – ok, really the Reds – were seeping me of my energy and slowly robbing me of my soul.  I was losing the will to even move.  And even worse, I stopped even thinking.  I just mindlessly stared at the TV, not even comprehending what I was watching, kind of like people who watch Fox News or MSNBC.  The middle innings happened and I watched them, but I was not really able to process them."
