BEARCATS NEWS

Lefeld, Mouhon, Williams, Named Steele 1st Team All-AAC

"The highlights were 3 Bearcats on the first team. Running back Hosey Williams, offensive lineman Eric Lefeld and defensive end Silverberry Mouhon all landed those honors. Congratulations to all three of them. Williams seems like the odd choice since his role was kind of hindered by Ralph David Abernathy IV, but when you look down the list, Houston has a rotation, UCF lost their main back, Temple is Temple and Williams’ numbers could be much better with more time."

2015 Maryland PG Justin Jenifer Is Visiting Cincinnati Right Now

"The recruiting experts have had Jenifer as a UC lean for quite some time. 7 of 9 crystal ball predictions on 247 sports have Justin Jenifer committing to the Bearcats at some point. The speculation is that if things go well this weekend Justin Jenifer will indeed become the first commit in the class of 2015."

Ladies Night Out: 9th Annual Women’s Football Clinic

Former Bearcats Standout Eric Finan Runs Sub-Four Mile, Beats Olympic Silver Medalist

"The former UC standout was in fifth heading into the final lap, but the New Richmond, Ohio native made his move with 200 meters to go as he hopped into the third lane and went nose-to-nose with Manzano. Finan pulled away from the Olympian with about 75 meters to go and then was battling two other runners for the win. All three leaned for the tape at the finish, and Finan came away with the victory by one-hundredth of a second, defeating Hamish Carson of New Zealand."

UCF’s O’Leary: SEC ‘sounds like the South during the Civil War’ – Well he would know.

"We’re sure no one in SEC country will find these kinds of remarks inflammatory at all! And without getting into the political-historical angles of O’Leary’s not-at-all-loaded analogy, it’s worth remembering that the Power 5 aren’t discussing a split in order to keep their dragon’s hoard of TV money away from the UCF‘s of FBS; they’re doing it in an attempt to share that money with the athletes that make it possible. Florida president Bernie Machen may not have made a lot of friends in the “Group of Five” conferences when he argued for a Division 4 in the event of more failed reforms, but he’s not wrong when he points out the unfairness of the SEC being sued for not providing full cost of attendance scholarships when it was prevented from offering them by schools who (mostly) aren’t being sued."

Houston Adds Two Offensive Line Transfers to Roster

"Cross, a versatile lineman from Plano, Texas, is eligible immediately and will be a junior on the field after graduating from Oklahoma State in three years and enrolling in The University of Houston Law Center. Cross enters a Houston Law Center currently ranked No. 48 among the nearly 200 law schools in the United States and one of only eight public law schools that offer multiple `Top 10″ programs.Marrs joins the UH program after spending two seasons at Oklahoma and while NCAA transfer guidelines require FBS transfers to sit out a season of competition following a transfer, the University of Houston will file an appeal to make Marrs eligible for the 2014 season. If the appeal is granted, Marrs will be a sophomore on the field in 2014."

Cincinnati Reds Take a Visit to Rock Bottom

"The only reason Hamels was unable to finish the game was due to the modern-era pitch counts that call for relief pitchers nearly immediately after 125 pitches. Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon sealed the deal with a 1-2-3 ninth inning to bury the Reds on what was supposed to be a celebratory Fireworks Friday."

Cranley outlines his ideas for uptown

"Cincinnati’s future leaders probably will come after living, learning and working at Uptown’s higher education and medical institutions, so it’s important that both the neighborhoods around the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State and the major hospitals and other institutions be vibrant, Mayor John Cranley said on Thursday."
