UC Football Game Odds: Cincinnati Opens As 3 Touchdown Underdogs To Ohio State

The Golden Nugget Casino has released their first betting lines for 200 college football games in 2014. 4 of them are those in which Cincinnati is playing including, most notably, the headliner with Ohio State. And the opening lines indicate that the Bearcats are a whopping 21 point underdogs to the Buckeyes.

This really isn’t all that surprising. Cincinnati is replacing star quarterback Brendon Kay and will be traveling to the unfriendly confines of Ohio Stadium for this game. Plus Ohio State is returning an Urban Meyer orchestrated juggernaut of an offense spearheaded by senior quarterback Braxton Miller. They have the capability to score multiple touchdowns per game without breaking a sweat.

So saying UC faces a challenge on September 27th would be an understatement.

Will the line stay at 3 touchdowns? Probably not. If Gunner Kiel can live up to the hype and the Bearcats open up the season by pasting Toledo and Miami (OH), they could easily close the line to a touchdown or two. Still, it’s unlikely that UC will be able to bring it close enough to be dead even with the Buckeyes. Not with Ohio State playing a trio of very winnable games (Navy, Virginia Tech, Kent State) prior to hosting Cincinnati.

Other lines for the Bearcats’ football games in 2014 include:

  • Miami (FL), October 11th: 11 point dogs
  • South Florida, October 24th: 19 point faves
  • UConn, November 10th: 10 point faves

Like the Ohio State game, all three of those lines seem fair and also like the Ohio State game all three are very much subject to change.
