Breaking: Antonio Howard Has Decommitted From The Cincinnati Bearcats

Cincinnati Bearcats verbal Antonio Howard has decommitted from UC. The announcement of the Florida cornerback’s intention was made on Twitter Monday afternoon.

This news comes as a disappointment but wasn’t all that unexpected.

Since verbally committing to Cincinnati on May 18th, Antonio Howard picked up scholarship offers from no less than a bajillion college football programs including Penn State, Clemson, Miami (FL), and Syracuse among several others. He also camped at Florida State over the weekend and is in Tuscaloosa visiting Alabama today. So to say it would be a challenge for Cincinnati to hang onto Howard with all of that outside pressure is an understatement.

Hopefully the young and talented cornerback recommits to the Bearcats sometime over the next few months but it’s unlikely. Once a recruit turns his back on a program, nine times out of ten he doesn’t go back.

So I wish Antonio Howard the best of luck at whatever program he chooses. Unless it’s like South Florida or something, which would be a Greek tragedy.
