No Cincinnati Bearcats player was named to the 2014 Doak Walker Award Watch List. The trophy is presented to college football’s best runningback and considering UC’s “issues” here last year, it’s no real surprise a Bearcat wasn’t selected among the field of 53.
Cincinnati paced the American Athletic Conference in rushing yards last season with 2,188 but no UC ball carrier surpassed 1,000 individually. Hosey Williams came the closest with 655 rushing yards with Ralph David Abernathy (518) and Tion Green (412) right behind him. Others like Jordan Luallen and Brendon Kay contributed a couple hundred of their own on the ground. However Cincinnati didn’t have a standout, every down back like George Winn and Isaiah Pead in the seasons before.
Things could change in 2014, though, with RDA moving over to wide receiver and Hosey Williams likely bearing the brunt of the load. It’s just a shame that transition didn’t occur last season otherwise #23 might have made the Doak Walker watch list.

- Deyshawn Bond renamed to Rimington Award (Best Center) watch list
- No Bearcats were named to the Bednarik Award (Best Defensive Player) or Maxwell Award (Best Offensive Player) watch lists
- Cincinnati didn’t have a player named to the Lou Groza (Best Kicker) or Ray Guy (Best Punter) watch lists
- Eric Lefeld named to Outland Trophy (Best Lineman) watch list
