1) Silverberry Mouhon
He was an anchor on the edge of Cincinnati’s defensive line in 2013. Mouhon was arguably the most destructive member of strong defensive line last season, piling up 41 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks for the Bearcats. All of this as a redshirt sophomore.
Now, entering his junior season, Mouhon has established himself as a contender for the AAC Defensive Player of the Year Award and has found himself on a national trophy watch list as well. I think what is most important about Silverberry last season was that he was the mark of consistency on Cincinnati’s defensive line. He notched 3.5 sacks in his first four games, 2 over his next four, then 4 over his final five outings. In essence, Mouhon didn’t take a play, quarter, or game off last season and that mindset, along with another offseason bulking up and fine tuning his abilities, will make him an even more dangerous edge rusher in 2014.
