Report: Handful Of Cincinnati Bearcats Players Leaving Football Team

Cincinnati Bearcats football players Mark Barr, Javon Harrison, Marcus Foster, and Drake Bruns are giving up football. This was reported by the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Tom Groeschen.

This is sad news for sure especially for Mark Barr and Javon Harrison. The two were among the Bearcats involved in the horrible car accident that tragically claimed the life of freshman lineman Ben Flick. It seemed like they were making a path to recovery but evidently they haven’t progressed enough to play football again. Obviously it would have been incredible if we could have witnessed them return to their pre-accident form.

Additionally I had high hopes for Marcus Foster who was one of Cincinnati’s highest rated recruits coming out of the 2012 recruiting class. He played sparingly as a redshirt freshman last season but was lost after a knee injury in the UConn game. It seems that same injury is now ending his football career.

But it’s not all depressing. The fact that these four young men will continue to work with the team off the field and stay on scholarship to earn their college degree is encouraging to hear. Hopefully they keep their heads held high and finish their time at UC strong.
