Cincinnati Bearcats Going With White Lettering This Fall

Extremely important news in the infancy of Cincinnati’s 2014 football season that the team is scrapping their silver lettering from last season in favor of traditional white. This is a major, major change for all of you (us) unigeeks out there.

As you can see, gone are the silver in the numbers on the chest, back, and shoulders. I quite liked that aspect last season as it gave the Bearcats a sleek, futuristic look. Thankfully the diamond-plate design on the shoulders and grid across the top of the chest remain. That should really help UC standout and further establish themselves as a preferred partner with Adidas.

Really it looks the Bearcats are channeling their 2012 jerseys with this change. More like a 2012, 2013 hybrid, in a sense. The lettering is huge with the rest of the uniform, essentially retaining last year’s design.

Personally, my favorite football jersey in recent member was from the 2010 and 2011 seasons. It was essentially the same as the following year but with skinnier lettering. I actually liked it so much that I solicited Koch Sporting Goods to make me a customized jersey with that design, no matter the cost. Yes, my obsession for all things Bearcats knows no bounds.

Anyways, Spencer noted that Cincinnati went with new white helmets on Friday complete with their standard white jerseys. It was a white out after all. So we likely won’t be seeing UC’s new uniforms until Miami (OH) on September 20th at the earliest.
