Bearcats In The NFL: 2014 Regular Season Week 3

Several former Cincinnati Bearcats football players now making waves in the NFL were in action in week 3 of the 2014 regular season. Here is a brief update on their performances.

Trent Cole: In a game where defense was put to the side in favor of offense, the Eagles defensive end still picked himself up 4 tackles on the day.

Connor Barwin: Like Cole, the Philly hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker was among a defense that didn’t shine against NFC East-rival Washington. But Barwin still notched a tackle on Sunday.

Kevin Huber: It was all offense for the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday in a dominating 33-7 win over the Tennessee Titans. But punter Kevin Huber still got some reps. In typical golden toe fashion, he averaged 49.3 yards per punt and booted one as long as 55 yards. 3 of 4 landed inside the 20 yard line.

John Hughes: The Cleveland Browns are looking up but the defense couldn’t hold Baltimore at bay on Sunday. Still, defensive tackle John Hughes grabbed himself a tackle against the Ravens.

Kenbrell Thompkins: After being held out the previous week, the New England Patriots played the former UC receiver against the Oakland Raiders. Thompkins responded by catching his only pass of the day for 16 yards.

Derek Wolfe: Denver’s hybrid defensive tackle/end was fairly active in the Broncos’ overtime loss to the Seahawks. Wolfe had 4 tackles on Sunday, his most in any game this season.

Travis Kelce: After going through a drought that lasted from week 3 of the preseason in which he didn’t catch a touchdown, the Chiefs tight end did just that on Sunday against the Dolphins. Kelce has established himself as Kansas City’s #2 or #3 receiving threat this year, catching 3 passes for 36 yards and this touchdown on Sunday.
