Tuberville: I’m Fed Up With It, No More Second Chances

Tommy Tuberville was emphatic in his stance that he’s sick and tired of the off field issues surrounding this football program, most recently Marcus Tappan’s arrest on Sunday. He’s “had enough of it” and they “won’t tolerate it anymore”. Tuberville is 100% on the police’s side when it comes to confrontations with his players and in my opinion that’s the right stance to take. Negative publicity affects this team, UC’s students, the alumni, and the fans. It embarrasses everyone and if players can’t avoid acting like idiots when the coaches aren’t watching, they shouldn’t be here.

As of this Sunday, Tuberville’s implemented a no tolerance policy with regards to off field issues. If a player does anything as small as pick up a speeding or parking ticket, he will be in danger of being suspended for the rest of the season. This is what’s it’s come to and it’s hard to argue with this course of action.

Stray Observations

  • Tommy Sniffles: 11111
  • On to more football related topics, Tuberville called Cincinnati’s performance against South Florida the best of the season, a week after saying the same thing after the SMU game. I would agree wholeheartedly.
  • Tuberville spoke briefly about how proud he was of Munchie Legaux’s performance on Friday night. He truly was remarkable taking over for Gunner Kiel on short notice.
  • Kiel should be ready to go against Tulane but I’d be curious as to how Tuberville and Eddie Gran utilize him.
  • Casey Gladney was held out of the South Florida game due to academic issues.
  • Apparently the punters look good in practice and in pre-game warm ups but can’t get any consistency after the clock starts. Hopefully that’ll change in the coming weeks.
  • If it came down to it that both Kiel and Legaux got hurt, Michael Colosimo would be the next guy in followed by true freshman Hayden Moore.
