UC Bearcats Game With Temple Owls Will Kick Off At Noon On ESPNews

The Cincinnati Bearcats football game with the Temple Owls in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 29th will kick off at noon on ESPNews.

The timing and network for this game excites me for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, a nooner on the road couldn’t be more advantageous for the visiting team. In general across college football, fans and especially students tend to turn out better for games in the afternoon or evening. 12 pm kickoffs are typically more difficult on tailgating and getting people out of bed and to their seats. This effect is amplified for teams that play off-campus in NFL stadiums. It’s amplified even more when the home team is Temple, who’s sitting at .500 in the AAC and little to no shot at the conference championship.

So I’d expect crowd noise, or lack thereof, to be a non-factor in this game.

Secondly, and I might be in the minority here, I can’t stand CBS Sports Net’s announcers. Color analyst Corey Chavous adds very little to broadcasts other than repeating the play the viewer just saw back to them. ESPN might be rolling out their Q- or S-team for this game being that it’s buried on ESPNews but as far as I’m concerned that’s light years better than whoever CBSSN would have assigned.
