Nippert Stadium Construction Update: Dec. 17

The University of Cincinnati athletic department released its tri-weekly Nippert Stadium construction update on Wednesday.  The building is really starting to take shape at this point.  The precast concrete sections for the seating are mostly in at this point, so what has formerly looked like a construction site is starting to actually look like a stadium as we move into Winter.  Video and a summary below:

  • The last concrete pour inside the building will be complete today, December 19th.
  • Utilities are going in for the new restrooms and concessions on the West Concourse at Bearcats Plaza.
  • Exterior walls are going in right now on the West side.  This will allow interior work to occur during the poor weather of the Winter months.
  • Work on the East Concourse is just beginning, and still in the demolition phases.  New restrooms and concessions will claim some of the space underneath the tennis courts that is currently occupied by the Varsity Village Parking Garage.
  • Steel will start to go in on the East Concourse in a few weeks.  You can already see that the staircases to the upper deck have been demolished to make way for the new sky bridges that will link the upper deck to a secondary concourse on O’Varsity Way.
