Report: Auburn’s Kenny Ingram Set To Become UC Defensive Tackles Coach
By Chris Bains
Reports are coming out that Auburn director of player development Kenny Ingram will be hired by Tommy Tuberville to be the Cincinnati Bearcats’ new defensive tackles coach.
UC’s potential new DT coach has a wealth of experience coaching defense.
A member of Tigers’ coaching staff since 2013, he transitioned with Gus Malzahn after he was hired from Arkansas State, where Ingram worked with the defensive line. Prior to the Red Wolves, Ingram was at Memphis, coaching the from 2006 to 2009. He was even promoted to defensive coordinator his final season with the Tigers.
Ingram has deep connections in the state of Tennessee. Before being brought on at Memphis, he was the defensive line coach at Tennessee State and before that was the head coach at Melrose High School. The Red Raiders posted a 37-4 record during the three years when Ingram was at the helm.
So from a recruiting and coaching stand point, this has the makings of a great hire for the Bearcats.
What does this suggest about the makeup of the current staff? Well, with Hank Hughes gone to Nebraska, it seems Tuberville has leaned towards promoting current right hand man, co-defensive coordinator, and defensive line coach Robert Prunty to a full-time role. That’s obviously a guestimate but with Prunty turning over control of the defensive tackles to Ingram, it only makes logical sense that he’s in line to oversee the entire defense.
