The Cincinnati Bearcats learned of their seeding in the 2015 NCAA Tournament Sunday evening. They are a 8 seed and will face the 9 seed Purdue Boilermakers from the Big Ten on Thursday in Louisville, Kentucky.

For a quick look at the Boilermakers, feel free to peruse this.

Now we’ve learned that Cincinnati and Purdue will tip off at 7:10 EST Thursday evening. Technically they’re slotted for the “7 pm window” but the tip will officially come at 7:10.

UC’s game will be the third of the day at the Yum! Center in Louisville. Iowa State and UAB will break in the floor at 12:40 on Thursday followed by SMU v. UCLA at at 3 pm. Then Cincinnati and Purdue will tip off at 7:10 and the next game in this sector, Kentucky and the winner of Hampton/Manhattan at 9:30.

That’s advantageous to the Bearcats for a couple of reasons. First of all, evening games allow them the entire day to rest and prepare for the game. This as opposed to those around noon where the team pretty much as to jump out of bed and right on to a basketball court.

Also, assuming UC beats Purdue, they’ll have time afterwards to scout the #1 overall seed Kentucky Wildcats from the stands. If the tip off times were flipped and the Bearcats were playing after Kentucky, they’d likely spend that game on their own prep work for Purdue. Instead, Cincinnati can effectively “get the Boilermakers out of the way” then focus on the Wildcats immediately afterwards.
