Former Bearcat Josh Harrison receives big pay from the Pittsburgh Pirates

Yesterday former Cincinnati Bearcats baseball player Josh Harrison received an extension for four years worth $27.3 million with club options for the 2019 and 2020 seasons that can make the deal jump to a six year deal worth $50 million. Congrats to Mr. Harrison ain’t nothing wrong with seeing the results from the field making that good ole bank account reflect more zeros.

Harrison is coming off of a monster year where he made his first All-Star team.  The former Bearcat and Cincinnati native hit .315 and had 13 home runs last year while covering multiple positions for the Pirates. Harrison seems set as the Pirates third basemen of the future.

I know we don’t root for the Pirates, but it is always cool to see a kid from Ohio do good and the icing on the cake is that he’s a Bearcats.

Check out the quick number breakdown via Hard Ball Talk:

"Harrison has agreed to a four-year, $27.3 million contract that includes team options for 2019 and 2020 that could push the total value of the deal over $50 million. This year’s $2.8 million salary for his first season of arbitration eligibility gets folded into the deal. Pittsburgh now has team control of Harrison through his age-32 season, including his first three years of free agency. Here’s the year-by-year breakdown of the contract:Signing bonus: $1 million2015: $2.8 million2016: $5 million2017: $7.5 million2018: $10 million2019: $10.5 million option or $1 million buyout2020: $11.5 million option or $500,000 buyout"

Hopefully he continues to play great and even if he does good against the Reds hopefully the Pirates lose. That would be a win-win for me. Keep ballin’ Josh!
