Former Bearcats Honored by Local Hall of Fame
"Banks was a two-time First Team All-Metro Conference selection in 1990 and 1991, who finished his career as the fifth-leading scorer in UC history with 1,644 points. He averaged double figures in scoring each of his final three seasons with the Bearcats, including a team-best 17.9 points during the 1989-90 campaign. A native of Camden, New Jersey, Banks was a four-year starter for the Bearcats and served as a captain on the 1990 and 1991 squads.Cincinnati’s top post defender during the 1992 and 1993 seasons, Nelson was a starter on the Bearcats’ 1992 NCAA Final Four squad that registered a 29-5 overall record. Nelson served as a captain on the 1993 unit that reached the NCAA East Regional finals and finished with a 27-5 overall mark. During his two seasons in Clifton, Nelson also helped the Bearcats to back-to-back Great Midwest Conference regular-season and tournament championships."
Bearcats Earn Three Weekly Conference Awards
"The University of Cincinnati track & field program raked in three American Athletic Conference weekly awards for their performances at the Cardinal Twilight on May 8, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Junior Erika Hurd and freshman Adrian Valles were labeled Field Athletes of the Week while freshman Aliya Barnes was named Track Athlete of the Week."
