Earlier this week we recapped our farewell tour for Cincinnati’s seniors on offense. We said a final, final goodbye to the likes of Munchie Legaux, Eric Lefeld, Kevin Schloemer, who will never again don the red and black as players on the Bearcats football team.

Now we turn our attention to the defensive side of the ball. While the unit as a whole was a major disappointment in the beginning of the year, they truly rose up and turned some heads by season’s end. A group that provided little challenge to opposing running backs in September and October was a menace in the backfield come December.

Led by Jeff Luc, one of the strongest and fearless Bearcats to come through Clifton, Cincinnati’s defense really impressed us with their ability to make such a sharp turnaround. But it wasn’t just him responsible for it. Fellow linebacker Nick Temple played a huge part in hammering opposing running games. Plus lone senior defensive back Howard Wilder improved his play on the back end, shutting down the offense’s best receiver.

So we bid them farewell and say thank you for everything they’ve given us over the years.
