Running Backs

RB1: Isaiah Pead – Pead ran for 1,259 yards and 12 TDs in 2011, and averaged an insanely good 6.0 YPC for his career.  He is 3rd in career rushing TDs (27) and rushing yards (3,288), and his speed and agility was impressive enough to land him a spot with the St. Louis Rams.

RB2/Short Yardage: George Winn – Winn has the second best season in school history, rushing for 1,334 yards in 2012 and falling just 27 yards short of the single-season record.  He also rushed for 13 TDs in ’12 – and threw for a 14th.  Winn has caught on in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.

RB3: Mike Boone – Boone burst onto the scene as a true freshman in 2014, leading the team with 650 yards rushing and 9 rush TDs, despite spending the first six games of the season on the bench as the fourth-string RB.  This kid is a star in the making, and it’ll be exciting to see what he does with a full 12-game season (which hopefully turns into 14).

RB4: Greg Moore – Moore was the most impressive of Mark Dantonio’s RBs by committee.  In his best season, he ran for 709 yards in 2006, despite splitting carries about 4 ways.  With a more consistent workload, Moore’s name would be more prominent in the UC record books.

3rd Down Back: Ralph David Abernathy IV – His speed and agility makes him the perfect threat to catch the ball out of the backfield on 3rd-and-medium plays.  In 2012, he totaled 366 rush yards and 3 rush TDs, while making 28 catches for 341 yards and 4 receiving TDs.
