2015 AAC Power Rankings: Week 1

Week 1 is here, and so are my American Conference power rankings. Below is a rundown of the Bearcats’ foes in The American, along with some things to watch for this season. More on What To Watch For in the AAC here, where I preview individual games around the conference.

4. team. 2394. Led by Senior QB Keenan Reynolds, Navy will play strong defense, and of course use the option to control the clock on offense. Coming off a respectable 8-5 season as an Independent in 2014, they should be a competitor in the West division. I just don’t think they can hang with Paxton Lynch and Memphis. We’ll find out a lot more about whether they’re for real when they play back-to-back games against Air Force and Notre Dame in early October.. (8-5, Independent). Previous: . Navy Midshipmen

Previous: . Temple Owls. 6. team. 2399. Temple had one of the best defenses in the nation last year, and the Owls lose just one starter from that defense. They also return 9 offensive starters, but the question will be this: Can PJ Walker develop into a QB who can make smart decisions and move the ball against good teams. I am skeptical. This team will only go as far as Walker can take them, which won’t be very far against the top half of the league – but I think it will be enough to win seven games and make a low-to-mid-tier bowl game. The Owls will be tested on day one when they host Penn State.. (6-6, 4-4 AAC)
