The last week of the preseason has come and gone with some former Bearcats high on the depth chart taking the final game off and others on the bottom rung still fighting for roster spots.
Jeff Luc: With plenty of reps to work with, the former UC linebacker did what he was born and raised to do; tackle everything that moves. Luc led the Miami Dolphins in tackles last night with six against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, hopefully securing his spot on the roster.
Kevin Huber: The Bengals punter’s spot on the team is all but secured. Still, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t use a little practice himself. With Cincinnati’s second and third string offense sputtering, Huber got a ton of opportunities to show of his cannon of a leg, booting five punts for an average of 42.4 yards and landing three inside the 20 yard line. Just another day at the office for Ol’ Golden Toe.
Camaron Beard: Notched himself a pair of tackles against the Washington Redskins.
George Winn: Got the bulk of the carries on Friday in the Lions game against the Bills. However, he only averaged 1.9 yards per rush on 14 carries. Even so, Detroit’s running back corps is a bit of a mess and Winn could still earn a roster spot.
Adrien Robinson: The New York Giants tight end caught a pass on three targets for four yards.
Isaiah Pead: Like Winn on the Lions, he was the leading rusher for the St. Louis Rams yesterday. Pead carried the ball 12 times for 52 yards and even crossed the goal line once. Fingers crossed that performance keeps him in the good graces of his coaches.
Ricardo Mathews: Recorded two tackles in the Chargers’ loss to the 49ers yesterday, including a tackle for loss and a half-sack.
