Tommy Tuberville Previews BYU, Discusses Injuries In Weekly Press Conference

After a week off, Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Tommy Tuberville returned to the podium to address the media on UC’s road game to BYU this Friday among several other topics.

He looks pretty fresh with some free nights to get some real rest.

STRAY OBSERVATIONS

  • Tommy Sniffles: 0! WHAT?
  • Believes UC didn’t play much better against Miami than Memphis or Temple, the Bearcats’ two losses this year. It was just that they turned the ball over and missed tackles in those games. That’s called playing worse, Tommy.
  • Advises BYU runs a multiple 4-3/3-4 defense, which could be complicated for Cincinnati’s offense picking up and handling the constantly changing schemes.
  • The Cougars are hosting Cincinnati this week but are coming off their sixth straight game, whereas the Bearcats are coming off a bye. I’m curious to see if that has an effect on Friday night.
  • Tuberville confirms that Gunner Kiel and Hayden Moore will battle it out this week to determine who starts on Friday. The players will know at the beginning of the week who will be QB1. This will be the trend throughout the season but I’ve got to figure if they are neck and neck, Kiel will get the nod.
  • “[Kiel] is 100% healthy now.”
  • With Mike Boone back, Cincinnati will get back to the three headed monster routine at running back with he, Tion Green, and Hosey Williams.
  • Someone asked a question about the two hour time difference because they are obviously out of meaningful questions.
  • Tuberville reminisced about Steve Spurrier, now that he’s up and retired as of last night. Called him the “Godfather of College Football.” Ain’t that the truth.
  • Also confirmed Chris Moore would play this week but it’s up in the air if he or Frank Labady will return kicks. Johnny Holton will also play.
