Final AAC Power Rankings and Bowl Predictions

The inaugural AAC Chamopinship game will take place Saturday at Noon (Eastern), as Houston will host Temple, basically for the right to go to a New Years Six bowl game – either the Fiesta or the Chik-Fil-A bowl.  For the rest of the league, the regular season has come to an end, and the eight league members who reached the 6-win mark await their bowl destinations until Sunday afternoon.  Here are the final power rankings and my predictions on bowl assignments.  Remember that their is no tiered or slotted bowl structure in The American (no AAC#2 vs. Big Ten #6, etc.).  The league office has sole discretion to assign teams to bowl games that are in the best interests of the schools and the conference.  This allows the AAC to take geography and matchups into account without having to select schools in a particular order.  Since the league champion is almost a lock to go to the New Years Six, that will leave the league with seven additional bowl eligible teams and seven contracted slots – very convenient.

2399. This week: AAC title game at Houston.<p><strong>Bowl prediction</strong>: Miami Beach Bowl (Dec. 21 vs. C-USA)  This is The American’s flagship bowl, so if the champion goes to an NY6 game, the league runner-up will most likely land here.  Temple vs. the C-USA champion would be a good matchup.</p>. (10-2, 7-1 AAC). Previous: 3rd. #22 Temple Owls. 2. team

2394. <strong>Bowl <del>prediction</del></strong>: Military Bowl (Dec. 28 vs. ACC)  Navy has already accepted a bid to the Military Bowl, which happens to be played at their very own home stadium in Annapolis.. (9-2, 7-1 AAC). Previous: 1st. #23 Navy Midshipmen. 3. team
