Three-star cornerback Marquis Smith has officially signed with the Cincinnati Bearcats for their 2016 recruiting class on National Signing Day.

OUTLOOK

A redshirt and I know I’ve become a broken record at this point but it’s the truth. This class is about adding depth, not finding players who can make an impact as freshmen or sophomores. Cincinnati’s secondary was loaded with those last season out of necessity and won’t be going forward. As such, Marquis Smith will probably find himself accepting a redshirt in his first year at UC. Having experience on both sides of the ball would help him see the field early but it appears the Bearcats are set at this early stage with him playing cornerback, where there’s a logjam currently.
