HIGHLIGHTS
OUTLOOK
The Bearcats were young and inexperienced at both linebacker and defensive back last season. The good news is that should make both position groups all the better next year. The bad news is that likely means Perry Young is heading for a redshirt his freshman year since there are simply so many players ahead of him on the two deep.
Like we’ve been saying all day, this class is about building depth. Young should take a redshirt, acclimate himself to collegiate life and his new system, and prepare for an expanded role as a sophomore or junior. But come year two, UC’s defensive coaches might be hard pressed to not play him as a redshirt freshman. Young not only has a great nose for the football but hits like a truck. His ability to cover ground and gobble up running backs makes him a very versatile player for Steve Clinkscale and Robert Prunty to utilize.
So you never know. Young could very well be one of the few signees in this class to see the field as an underclassman.
