Former Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bearcats running backs coach Jim Turner is evidently on his way to Texas A&M after spending less than a month at UC.

Well this is awkward.

Turner was hired onto Zac Taylor’s offensive staff on January 14th. Prior to that both were on the Miami Dolphins coaching staff. Unfortunately the whole Rich Incognito being a jerk thing threw a wrench in Turner’s NFL plans and he was swiftly scapegoated to soften the Dolphins’ public ridicule. Then Taylor gave him a second chance, a new lease on life if you will, at Cincinnati and seemingly rounded out the Bearcats’ new coaching staff.

Now he’s heading to Texas A&M as their offensive line coach.

So can we say Turner bolting for another job one month after being hired is like spitting in Taylor’s face? Yea, it’s like spitting in Taylor’s face.

So what’s next for the Bearcats. Well, they need a new running backs coach. It’s unlikely they’ll expand the role of anyone on the current staff as there’s next to no experience at this position between the three of them. JB Grimes has spent his 30-some-odd years exclusively on offensive lines, Ty Lindner on special teams and tight ends, and Blake Rolan on wide receivers. Their skills just appear to be far too specialized for them to shift to running backs and as great as Mike Boone is, he needs someone to coach him up.

So don’t be surprised if Tommy Tuberville looks outside the program to replace Turner, who will officially be dead to all of us from this point onward.
