10) Hawaii Bowl – San Diego State Aztecs – (L) 42-7

Weeks of high expectations to end the season on a positive note resulted in the dud of all duds.

Cincinnati got demolished in the Hawaii Bowl but was this really a surprise to anyone? After grinding through a season in which the Bearcats threw 19 interceptions, which ranked close to dead last in college football, and allowed most every team run up and around them, seeing these again in the bowl wasn’t especially shocking. That’s why it doesn’t rank lower than the previous games. It simply wasn’t nearly as emotionally devastating as Temple, South Florida, or Memphis.

I mean, San Diego State took the opening kickoff to the house. After watching Jahad Thomas do it in week two, the collective reaction from the fan base was more “ugh.. here we go again” and less “are you kidding me?!”. At this point in the season anger had turned to apathy and by the time the Aztecs had thoroughly dismantled the Bearcats’ in basically ever facet of the game, most of us were just relieved it was over.
