After almost a week off, the Cincinnati Bearcats hit the hardwood tonight to take down a surging Houston Cougars team. In the last go around UC handled them fairly easily. But since that win Houston has gone on a tear, beating the likes of SMU, UConn, and Tulsa along the way. Now the Cougars sit just behind the Bearcats in the AAC standings, one and a half games out of first place.

For Cincinnati, while they’re not in danger of missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the last six years should they lose tonight, it would put more pressure on them to take down SMU at home on Sunday. A win, however, and the Bearcats are all but a lock for the Big Dance with a quality victory over the Mustangs only improving their seed.

But it all starts tonight in a very tricky road game at the Hofheinz Pavilion.
