The Cincinnati baseball team took down Tulane 8-7 to secure a series win on Sunday afternoon in New Orleans. Despite giving up an early run, Tristan Weaver settled in and earned the win as Cole Harting and Kameron Guidry led the way behind the plate. All nine hitters reached base and the team hit four home runs for the third time this season.

Tulane jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but the Bearcats responded with five runs combined in the next four innings. Guidry tied the game in the second with a sacrifice fly to right field and Harting hit a solo home run an inning later. Weaver pitched three scoreless frames to help extend the lead.

The left hander gave up two runs, two walks and six hits in five innings before the bullpen took over. Cincinnati native Jackson Murphy pitched a shutout inning with one strikeout before Garrett Harker came in to close. The Bearcats sealed a win with two runs in the eighth to go up 8-4.

Guidry went deep to left field and Harting singled to score a run.

Harting went 3/5 with one home run, two RBI and two runs in the win. Guidry and Ryan Nicholson combined for two homers, three runs, four RBI and four hits in six plate appearances. Cincinnati compiled seven extra-base hits for the fourth time this year and earned a series win for the first time since sweeping Wichita State on April 16.

The Bearcats improved to 8-1 in their last nine games against Tulane.

After picking up a much-needed series victory, head coach Scott Googins will try to keep the momentum going when the Bearcats host Northern Kentucky on Wednesday night. Following the midweek matchup, Memphis will be in town on Friday for a 3-game series that concludes with Senior Day on Sunday at noon.

Cincinnati now trails Tulane by one game for fourth place in the American Conference.
