“I most definitely can see myself in a Bearcats uniform. It’s amazing up there! They have a great coaching staff and I felt welcome on my visit. Just good vibes from everyone,” 2024 quarterback prospect Timothy Carpenter told me. “I loved watching Desmond Ridder when he was under center for Cincinnati.”

Carpenter is a dynamic athlete from Dayton with great arm strength, size and speed, plus an impressive ability to improvise in the pocket and escape from rushers. According to On3 Recruiting, the 6’4 sophomore is a 4-star prospect, the 15th ranked quarterback in the country and 8th highest-rated recruit from Ohio.

After being named starting quarterback at Trotwood-Madison High School during his freshman season, Carpenter discussed the difficulties he faced: “At first it was a real challenge, just getting all the basics down. Camp really pushed me and our great coaching staff made the game easy for me, especially coach Graham.”

Jeff Graham, who played wide receiver at Ohio State for three years before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1991 NFL Draft, was promoted from offensive coordinator to head coach at Trotwood-Madison in 2014. He quickly helped Carpenter become an All-Southwest Ohio performer as a sophomore.

“My goals for this season are to be better than last year and win state,” Carpenter said.

In addition to earning scholarship offers from Akron, Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Kentucky, Massachusetts, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo, he is receiving interest from Cincinnati, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Within the last couple weeks, Carpenter got a chance to visit both the Bearcats and Buckeyes.

He also participated in a camp at Notre Dame in June.

I love the Bearcats program. I can see myself there in a couple of years. If I don’t get back down in the spring, I’ll get there in the summer for sure,” Carpenter explained in a recent interview. “Ohio State was wonderful. Great coaches, facilities and players. Can’t wait to go back up there. I plan to go on a lot of visits this summer.”
