After earning an offer from the Bearcats in late April, Eric Lee explained his thoughts on potentially joining the program someday: “I was really excited to get the offer. It meant a lot. I definitely could see myself at Cincinnati. I love the culture and the success they have with their program and the way they develop defensive backs.”

The 2024 3-star safety prospect can play multiple positions in the secondary and would fit in seamlessly with the Bearcats because of his impressive energy, physicality and toughness. According to 247 Sports, Lee is the 10th ranked recruit from New Jersey and the 34th highest rated safety in the country.

“I’m a team player and very physical. I can play in the box and cover. I make a lot of plays behind the line of scrimmage,” Lee told me in a recent interview. “I’m only a sophomore so I’m just taking all of this in right now. I just feel blessed that all my hard work is paying off and I’m getting noticed.”

Following his sophomore season at Woodrow Wilson High School, Lee received scholarship offers from Boston College, Louisville, Ole Miss, Penn State, Temple and others. The Bearcats extended an offer on April 29, while Boston College, Penn State, Pittsburgh and UConn reached out to him last January.

Lee also told me that he is hoping to schedule a trip to Cincinnati before his junior season starts and continue building a relationship with Bearcats co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Colin Hitschler. The 6’1, 185-pound safety is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on during the upcoming 2024 recruiting cycle.
