Cincinnati Football: 3-star cornerback Cameron Calhoun commits to Bearcats

The 3-star cornerback prospect committed to the Mountaineers in late March before re-opening his recruitment on June 6. Just a couple days after earning an offer from the Bearcats, Calhoun decommitted from West Virginia and eventually decided Cincinnati is the right program for him.

“It feels great to be a Bearcat. I’ve already gotten so much love from the fans and I just felt comfortable being around the coaching staff,” Calhoun told Rivals following his commitment. “It was just fun. We were all competing and coach Coombs came outside and started playing cornhole.”

Cincinnati has been able to create a culture and environment that is attractive to recruits and the hard work is clearly paying off. According to 247 Sports, the Bearcats have climbed to the 3rd highest ranked recruiting class after picking up 12 verbal commitments in the last two weeks.

Heading into his senior season at Winton Woods High School, Calhoun also has scholarship offers from Boston College, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers and more. The 6’2, 175-pound cornerback is the 14th highest rated player in Ohio and the 50th ranked cornerback in the country per 247 Sports.

“I’m going to take everything day by day. Just keep working out with my team and make sure we get another ring this year,” the Cincinnati native explained via Rivals. “We’re going to win that state title and then I’m going to bring that energy to Cincinnati. After that, we can take off from there.”
