Parker Friedrichsen, widely considered one of the purest shooters in the 2023 recruiting class, took a trip to Cincinnati last month. After decommitting from Oklahoma State this summer, the 4-star shooting guard visited campus on June 17 and should continue to be a priority for the Bearcats coaching staff going forward.

Cincinnati Basketball: Parker Friedrichsen should be a priority for the Bearcats

“I could definitely see myself playing for a guy like coach Miller. He was very relatable and made me feel like a high priority. I have a great relationship with him and coach Roberts,” Friedrichsen told me in a recent interview. “I had never been to Cincy before but it exceeded my expectations and I’m excited for them to go to the Big 12.”

During his junior season at Bixby High School, the Oklahoma native averaged 27.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Friedrichsen scored 40+ points twice last year, alongside an impressive 11 performances with 30+ points. According to Prep Hoops, Friedrichsen is currently the 84th ranked player in the senior class.

"“I’m known as a shooter but my offensive skills have evolved to scoring on all three levels efficiently. I consider myself a playmaker who can shoot,” Friedrichsen said. “I can shoot off the bounce, find the open guy and create for my teammates. I’m always working on my explosiveness at the rim and getting my body where it needs to be.”"

Friedrichsen has picked up 27 scholarship offers to this point from Cincinnati, Creighton, Illinois, Oklahoma, Purdue and others. The 6’3, 165-pound guard previously visited Creighton, Iowa, Nebraska, Purdue and Xavier before most recently receiving offers from Memphis, Northwestern and SMU within the last month.

“Nothing happened at OSU. My parents felt I committed too early and they wanted me to enjoy the process and take all my visits. I reopened my recruitment so I could do that,” Friedrichsen explained to me. “At the end of the day, I’m going to end up where I feel the most valued and wanted so the relationships are big to me.”

"Brandon Jenkins, 247 Sports Recruiting Analyst, evaluated the 4-star guard last year: “Friedrichsen is a lethal marksman from all areas on the floor. Defensively, he will need to improve overall. However, Friedrichsen’s skillset as a deadeye specialist will make up for it as a player like him always will fill a need.”"
