In addition to surpassing 47,000 students this year, the administration continues to push the Next Lives Here initiative, which was created to include, innovate and positively impact the city of Cincinnati, and surrounding businesses and schools.

About four years later, Next Lives Here is expanding as the university is set to debut the Digital Futures building in late September. The brand new, state of the art building consists of labs and workspace that will open on Friday, September 23.

Digital Futures was built for the university to reach new levels in artificial intelligence and other technologies. The 1819 Innovation Hub, a 100,000-square foot building, was constructed several years ago to continue the university’s advancement.

“We’ve got to permeate into our communities,” Pinto explained per the Enquirer. “It’s about each of us waking up every day, recognizing the next generation of leaders, citizens, creators, inventors, and artists are right here on our campus today.”

After working as an administrator, teacher and researcher for more than 30 years, Pinto was promoted to president on February 20, 2017 and has done a great job of enhancing, improving and strengthening the Bearcats campus and community.

As the athletics department shifts to the Big 12 next summer, it appears the university will continue to grow and thrive in coming years. There will always be room for improvement on campus but it’s clear president Pinto has a specific plan going forward.
